Steph Curry, Austin Reaves American Century Golf Day 1 Tee Times, TV Schedule
The 2026 American Century Championship will begin on Friday with the first of three 18-hole rounds. As is the case every year, many of the top celebrities from the worlds of sports and entertainment will be teeing off.
Not every competitor in the field is on the verge of earning a PGA Tour card, of course, but there are some terrific golfers among this year's group. The list includes former champ Steph Curry, as well as Austin Reaves, who has tied for 13th in back-to-back tournaments.
Tony Romo, who has played in PGA events and has won the American Century Championship three times, is also back for another run. So is defending champion Joe Pavelski.
Fans should see an entertaining mix of competitive and casual golf on Friday. For those who want to track all of the Day 1 action, here's what to know.

Day 1 Preview

As previously noted, there will be some casual golf at Lake Tahoe this weekend. While participants like Curry, Pavelski, Romo, Mardy Fish, John Smoltz, Annika Sorenstam, and Jack Wagner have the chops to chase a tournament victory, not everyone does.
"I think we have different levels of players," NBC Sports President of Acquisitions & Partnerships Jon Miller said, per Andrew Hughes of The Sporting News. "We have probably a dozen players who are capable of winning this event at the highest level."
A large contingent of the 2026 field consists of more casual competitors like Charles Barkley, Michael Peña, Larry the Cable Guy, Trey Wingo, Brian Baumgartner, and Colin Jost. They may not be legitimate contenders, but they'll provide fans watching in attendance and at home with plenty of highlight moments.
"Where are you ever gonna find this grouping of athletes and celebrities ever, right?" Wagner said, per Hughes. "Who are willing to sign autographs, take selfies, play golf… I think that's really the key to this weekend."
The tournament itself will be a three-day, 54-hole competition that utilizes a modified Stableford scoring format that awards points for each hole as follows:
Three Under Par: 10 Points
Hole-in-One: 8 Points
Eagle: 6 Points
Birdie: 3 Points
Par: 1 Point
Bogey: 0 Points
Double-Bogey or Worse: Minus-2 Points
The format doesn't penalize golfers for scoring worse than a double bogey, which helps keep some of the more casual golfers engaged. However, the format also heavily rewards skill and consistency.
Pavelski won last year's tournament with an overall score of 73 points.
