'Selfish,' Paul Skenes Jokes About O'Hearn's 3 HR, 10 RBI for Pirates vs. Braves in Trending Video
Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes had his quality start in Tuesday's win over the Atlanta Braves overshadowed by Ryan O'Hearn's record-setting day, and he jokingly called out his teammate.
Skenes cracked a smile as he told reporters that he felt O'Hearn's three home runs and franchise-record 10 RBI were "a little selfish, to be honest."
Skenes pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs with four strikeouts in Tuesday's 12-4 win. The victory improved his record to 7-8 this season and was a return to form after he gave up a combined 11 earned runs in his previous two starts.
Still, the day belonged to O'Hearn, who became the first player to record three homers and 10 RBI in a game since Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani did so in 2024.
The Pirates (47-45) will try to keep the momentum going when they seek their fourth straight win on Wednesday night against the Braves (52-38).
