MLB Unveils 2026 Home Run Derby Chain with Liberty Bell Design in New Photo
The winner of the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby will receive a chain inspired by the All-Star host city of Philadelphia and the United States' Semiquincentennial.
The derby chain features an imitation Liberty Bell embedded with 250 rubies, according to MLB.
The chain is set to travel the East Coast in a themed truck ahead of the All-Star Game as part of a Netflix promotion stopping in Boston, New York City and Philadelphia.
The 2026 Home Run Derby is set to take place July 13 at 8 p.m. ET in Philadelphia. Confirmed participants include the New York Yankees' Ben Rice and Tampa Bay Rays' Junior Caminero.
Rice will be participating in his first Home Run Derby after hitting 26 home runs in his first 86 games of the season. His father Dan Rice will be serving as his pitcher.
Caminero, who also has 26 home runs this season, is returning to the event after finishing as runner-up to the Seattle Mariners' Cal Raleigh in the 2025 Derby. Rays Major League field coordinator Tomas Francisco is expected to pitch to him.
Raleigh also received a chain, the 2025 edition of which featured the words "Derby Champ" around a baseball decorated with the phrase "Keep Swinging."
The 2026 edition of the Home Run Derby will feature a new format in which hitters will be limited by number of swings rather than seconds.
Batters will get 20 swings in the first round and 15 in the final two rounds. Competitors can keep batting after those limits until they take a swing that doesn't result in a home run.
A tie after the first round will be decided by home-run distance, while second- and third-round ties will be determined by a three-hit swing-off.
Six more competitors will be announced to join Rice and Caminero before this year's event airs on Netflix.
The Home Run Derby will be followed by the 2026 MLB All-Star Game on July 14. The full rosters featuring 26 first-time All-Stars were revealed by MLB on July 4.
