MLB All-Star Rosters 2026 and Munetaka Murakami, Top Snubs After Final Voting Results

Joe TanseyJul 4, 2026

The Chicago White Sox have plenty of reasons to be upset about the 2026 MLB All-Star Game rosters.

Two of the White Sox's top sluggers, Munetaka Murakami and Colson Montgomery, were left off the roster entirely.

A handful of other hitters and pitchers should feel slighted as well that they did not get selected right away for the festivities in Philadelphia.

The full All-Star Game rosters, including Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, can be found here on MLB.com.

Munetaka Murakami

1 of 4
Minnesota Twins v Chicago White Sox

Munetake Murakami was the biggest surprise exclusion from the All-Star Game rosters.

Murakami had one of the best starts to the season in the majors with 20 home runs in 57 games.

Murakami is still tied for sixth place in the American League in home runs despite being out injured for multiple weeks.

All of the other sluggers ranked in the top 10 in home runs in the AL made the All-Star Game roster with the exception of Murakami and his teammate Colson Montgomery.

Colson Montgomery

Colson Montgomery has a right to be annoyed as well about the All-Star Game roster.

The left-hander slugger ranks in the top five in the AL in home runs with 21.

Montgomery is in the top 15 in the AL in RBIs with 50 and he's been a key part of the White Sox lineup, even more so since Murakami went down with his injury.

The White Sox were rewarded with Miguel Vargas' selection, but for a team with so many impressive hitters and in second place in the AL Central, it feels like it deserved more players on the roster.

Xavier Edwards

3 of 4
Texas Rangers v Miami Marlins

Xavier Edwards is fourth in the NL in hits, seventh in batting average and ninth in on-base percentage.

Yet Edwards was left off the National League roster. Otto Lopez is the only hitter representing the Marlins in Philadelphia.

Edwards has been a vital part of the Marlins offense for their surprise start. They ae third in the NL East and only 5.5 games back of Atlanta.

A potential Edwards selection would have been a nice reward for the Marlins, who like the White Sox, are one of the most pleasant surprises of the season.

Braxton Ashcraft

4 of 4
Pittsburgh Pirates v. Washington Nationals

Braxton Ashcraft is not on the NL roster despite having the third-highest strikeout total in the NL.

Ashcraft fanned 122 batters over 108.1 innings. He has a 1.10 WHIP and a .234 batting average against.

Ashcraft isn't the most notable name in the Pittsburgh rotation, so it's hard to jump over Paul Skenes in the league-wide pecking order to land on an All-Star roster.

The right-handed hurler could be named to the NL roster over the next week depending on when the top pitchers make their last scheduled start.

For now, Ashcraft appears to be the biggest pitching snub.
