Liv Morgan Beats Iyo Sky to Retain Women's World Title at WWE SummerSlam in QOTR Finals Rematch

In a rematch of the Queen of the Ring final, Liv Morgan defeated Iyo Sky on Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam 2026 on Saturday to retain the Women's World Championship.

This was a fantastic match to lead off the weekend with plenty of great spots.

Sky hit Morgan with a Bullet Train Attack in the corner before continuing with a sunset flip between the ropes and outside of the ring.

Raquel Rodriguez and Roxie Perez tried to interfere early on, but Sky got the upper hand against those two and hit a moonsault from the top rope to the area between the ring and announcer tables.

Morgan later rolled out of the way of Sky's Over the Moonsault attempt and countered with a Codebreaker from the second rope, leading to a two-count.

Sky got in another tough shot, hitting Morgan with another Bullet Train Attack, this time against the steel post.

She went for Over the Moonsault again, but Morgan countered that into a fantastic Oblivion-Codebreaker-Oblivion combo for the win.

SummerSlam marked the second time Morgan and Sky met in a singles match in just over a month, as they previously clashed at Night of Champions to determine the 2026 Queen of the Ring.

Morgan won a Fatal 4-Way against Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green before beating Charlotte Flair in the semifinals in order to get there, while Sky took down Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Lash Legend in the first round, followed by Raquel Rodriguez in the semis.

Prior to the Queen of the Ring final between Morgan and Sky, Liv interrupted a promo by Danhausen, which proved to be a massive mistake.

Morgan confronted Danhausen about stealing money from Dominik Mysterio and electrocuting JD McDonagh, which prompted Danhausen to place a curse on her.

Sky then went on to beat Morgan to become Queen of the Ring, and Danhausen took some credit for the result, much like he did with the New York Knicks when they won the NBA championship after he uncursed them.

Given that she already beat Liv once, Iyo wasted no time in challenging Morgan to a Women's World Championship match at SummerSlam, doing so right after their QOTR final match.

While that victory gave Sky a ton of momentum heading toward SummerSlam, she was anything but guaranteed to follow it up with another win.

After all, Liv had the benefit of Judgment Day members Rodriguez and Perez backing her up, thus placing Iyo in an unenviable position.

As it turns out, lightning did not strike twice for Sky, as Morgan came out on top at SummerSlam and continued her reign as women's world champion.
