Mark McGwire's Son Mason Headlines 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game Rosters for AL, NL

Less than two weeks away from the Futures Game in Philadelphia, MLB has unveiled the star-studded roster of prospects who will showcase their skills as part of All-Star week festivities.

The AL and NL rosters feature a collection top prospects and rising stars in the minors, including 2025 No. 1 overall pick Eli Willits of the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs pitcher Mason McGwire, son of 12-time MLB All-Star Mark McGwire.

Per MLB.com's Sam Dykstra, 38 of the 50 players selected to the game are among MLB.com's Top 100 prospects.

Each of the top nine players on the top 100 are on the roster, led by Jesús Made of the Milwaukee Brewers (No. 1 overall), Leo De Vries of the Athletics (No. 2) and Willits.

McGwire, an eighth-round pick in the 2022 draft, has not been regarded as a standout prospect prior to 2026. He is ranked No. 30 on the Cubs' top 30 list from MLB.com.

This season, though, has been something of a breakout for McGwire after he missed all of 2025 due to an elbow injury that didn't require surgery. The right-hander has a 3.00 ERA with 62 strikeouts in 45 innings over 14 appearances between A ball and High-A.

In his first two full seasons in 2023 and '24, McGwire had nearly as many walks (63) as strikeouts (66) in 76.1 innings.

Sticking on the pitching side of things, a potential starting matchup between Kade Anderson and Gage Wood could make sense if their schedules lineup.

Anderson, the No. 3 pick by the Seattle Mariners last year, was sent right to Double-A to start this season. The left-hander has been lights out with a 1.22 ERA, 99 strikeouts and 37 hits allowed in 66.2 innings.

Wood, a hometown pick as one of the two Phillies' representatives in the Futures Game, boasts a 3.86 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 52 innings across two levels this season.

The 2026 MLB Futures Game will played on July 12 at 12 p.m. ET on NBC.
