Aaron Judge's Timeline to Return to Yankees from Broken Rib Injury Updated by Aaron Boone

Andrew PetersJun 30, 2026

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge still has some time to go in his recovery from a broken rib.

Per MLB.com's Thomas Harriagan, manager Aaron Boone said Judge is still a "couple weeks" away from undergoing re-imaging on his fractured rib.

Judge hasn't played since the end of May and was placed on the 10-day injured list in early June after it was determined that he's dealing with a stress fracture of the first rib on his right side.

The initial timeline for Judge was four to six weeks, though Judge said that he wasn't following a certain timetable.

"I don't like talking timetables," he told reporters. "That stuff's all made up, so you never know what's going to happen."

On Tuesday, Boone also declined to provide an exact timeframe for Judge's return.

"It's probably a couple weeks still from reimaging," Boone said on Talkin' Yanks. "They'll determine when they feel like he's doing stuff that [warrants] 'Alright, let's go reimage it now.' We're not at that point yet.

"He's doing some lower-body stuff now in the weight room and moving better. I think he's feeling a lot better this week, anyway."

Judge had been playing well before the injury, slugging 17 homers and 38 RBI while slashing .248/.375/.533.

New York managed to stay afloat in the first few weeks without its star, going 10-2 from June 4-19, but the Yankees have since dropped nine of their last 12 games. The Bronx Bombers are currently sitting in second place in the AL East at 48-36, though they're just 1.5 games back from the first-place Tampa Bay Rays.
