Oba Femi Beats Brock Lesnar in Hell in a Cell Match, Gets Hyped by The Beast at WWE SummerSlam 2026

Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match to close Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam 2026 on Saturday.

After the match, the cell was raised, and Femi received adulation from the crowd. However, Lesnar soon walked back into the ring, approached Femi and hugged his competitor.

Lesnar then asked for a microphone and hyped Femi. The Beast Incarnate called himself the past and Femi the future.

Femi was then left to celebrate again in the ring as Night 1 concluded. He clearly agrees with Lesnar's assessment.

This was an intense battle to say the least.

The drama reached another level when Lesnar rippled the mat's canvas apart, exposing the wooden paneling.

Lesnar hit Femi with a Tombstone Piledriver, but somehow, The Ruler kicked out at two.

Femi then got the win after hitting Fall From Grace.

SummerSlam marked the rubber match between Femi and Lesnar after they split their first two meetings at WrestleMania 42 and Clash in Italy.

Oba made a massive statement on the WrestleMania stage, beating Brock decisively with his Fall From Grace finisher in a matter of minutes.

The win was so definitive, in fact, that Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the middle of the ring afterward, leaving many fans to believe that he had retired from in-ring competition.

Lesnar's retirement didn't last long, though, as The Beast Incarnate returned a few weeks later by attacking Femi from behind and laying him out with multiple F-5 finishers.

That set the stage for a rematch between Lesnar and The Ruler at Clash in Italy, and things went much differently in Turin, as Brock took the fight to Oba and handed him his first singles loss on the main roster.

Femi quickly shook off the disappointment of that loss by running roughshod over the King of the Ring tournament. Oba won a Fatal 4-Way in the first round and beat Dominik Mysterio in the semifinals to reach the final.

All the while advancing through the King of the Ring tournament, Femi periodically took shots at Lesnar, and then he defeated Jey Uso at Night of Champions to earn the distinction of King of the Ring.

While that was supposed to secure Femi a world title match at SummerSlam, Lesnar confronted and F-5'ed him on the ensuing episode of Raw.

Femi challenged him to a match at SummerSlam, and Brock accepted, but only under the condition that it be contested inside Hell in a Cell.

It was a controversial booking decision given that Femi opted to forgo his SummerSlam title opportunity, but there was a great deal of excitement surrounding the match nonetheless.

With Femi coming out on top in Lesnar's adopted home state of Minnesota, momentum is firmly on The Ruler's side, and it may only be a matter of time before he is vying for and winning his first world title.
