The announcement of a Hell in a Cell match between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi at SummerSlam during Monday night's episode of Raw had reportedly been in the works for some time.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Geno Mrosko of Cageside Seats), plans for a rubber match between Lesnar and Femi inside the cell at SummerSlam had been "in place for a long time."

The first meeting between Femi and Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 saw Oba win decisively, and after the match, Brock left his gloves and boots in the ring, which signified retirement.

However, only a few weeks later, Lesnar returned by attacking The Ruler on Raw, which set up a rematch at Clash in Italy.

Femi absorbed everything Lesnar threw at him and nearly mounted a comeback, but The Beast Incarnate came out on top in Italy, evening the series at 1-1.

While Lesnar was off WWE TV after that, Femi ran through the King of the Ring tournament, beating Jey Uso in the final at Night of Champions last weekend.

That was supposed to result in Femi challenging for a world title at SummerSlam, but when Lesnar interrupted Femi and hit him with an F-5 this week on Raw, the two Superstars instead agreed to a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam.

Femi said later in the show that a title match would be available to him whenever he wants it, and while that may be true, it likely won't prevent criticism from fans over WWE's decision to stray from the stated reward for winning King of the Ring.

Reported Backstage Reaction to Zayn's WWE Title Win

Sami Zayn's shocking WWE Championship win at Night of Champions reportedly met the approval of many within WWE.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Mrosko), the backstage reaction to Zayn winning the WWE title was "overwhelmingly positive," ranging from fellow wrestlers to parking attendants.

Cody Rhodes put the WWE Championship on the line in a Triple Threat against Gunther and Zayn at Night of Champions, and it was widely expected by most that Rhodes would simply retain.

It looked like that would be the case during the latter stages of the match as well when Rhodes hit Gunther and Zayn with a double Cross Rhodes and then set Zayn up for what would likely have been a decisive Cross Rhodes.

Instead, Zayn wiggled out of it and rolled up Cody for the shock title win in Saudi Arabia.

Although Zayn's character on SmackDown in recent weeks has been that of a tweener bordering on heel status, he still received a hugely positive reaction from the crowd after scoring the upset.

Zayn has been in WWE since 2013, and although he has had his fair share of world title opportunities, he fell short each time until Saturday.

It is fair to wonder if Zayn is in line for a short, transitional reign as WWE champion rather than something more substantial, but even if that is the case, he will always be remembered as a WWE champion.

Reported Danhausen Plans for SNME at MSG

Danhausen reportedly is expected to continue his current on-screen feud at the July 18 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

According to Fightful Select (h/t WrestlePurists), the current plan is for Danhausen to face Judgment Day member JD McDonagh at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Over the past several weeks, Danhausen has been at odds with The Judgment Day. It started with Dominik Mysterio and McDonagh giving Danhausen $100,000 in order to curse Oba Femi, only for Danhausen to take the money and not follow through on the curse.

That was followed by McDonagh getting electrocuted by Danhausen's equipment, and by Danhausen cursing Judgment Day member Liv Morgan prior to her Queen of the Ring final against Iyo Sky, which she went on to lose.

On Monday's episode of Raw, Dominik and McDonagh broke into Danhausen's room and stole a custom jersey he was gifted by the New York Knicks.

The Knicks famously won 15 out of 16 games in the playoffs after Danhausen uncursed them, leading to their first NBA championship since 1973.

Dominik wore the jersey at ringside during a match between McDonagh and Gable, and although Danhausen helped cost McDonagh the match and got one over on Dom and JD by giving them a briefcase full of money that exploded and blinded them with powder, The Judgment Day ended the night still in possession of Danhausen's jersey.

Danhausen figures to get a hero's welcome at MSG, which is the home of the Knicks, and if he beats McDonagh at SNME, it could lead to the biggest reaction of the night.
