Reds' Dane Myers Carted Off Field, Latest Injury Updates After Colliding into Wall on Amazing Catch
After making a spectacular catch against the wall in Monday's contest against the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Dane Myers suffered an injury.
Myers slammed into the outfield wall upon making the catch, and he was carted off the field.
The extent of Myers' injury is still unclear, but his left shoulder appeared to crash into the wall first. He was replaced by TJ Friedl in centerfield after being carted off.
Myers had put together a solid day at the plate before exiting, collecting a double in the top of the first inning that drove in a run. Myers, 30, is slashing .252/.356/.374 this season with 13 homers and 18 RBI. He's in his first season with the Reds after spending the last three years with the Miami Marlins, who traded him to Cincinnati in December.
The latest incident only adds to the Reds' injury woes so far this season.
Pitchers Hunter Greene and Emilio Pagán are both currently on the injured list, with Greene having been out since March. Outfielder Blake Dunn landed on the injured list with an elbow injury on Sunday, while right-handed pitcher Graham Ashcraft, third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes and lefty Brandon Williamson have been on the injured list since May.
Eugenio Suarez exited Sunday's game after taking a pitch to the hand, while Elly De La Cruz tweaked his ankle in the loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Suarez was not in the lineup on Monday, though De La Cruz was able to suit up.
The Reds are currently sitting at 39-43, 4.5 games back in the wild card race, so they can't afford anymore injuries.
