6 Most Likely Heel, Face Turns For WWE Night of Champions, AEW Forbidden Door

Welcoming the official start of summer, professional wrestling has set up one of the most packed weekends of the year.

This includes WWE Night of Champions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday and AEW x NJPW x CMLL x Stardom Forbidden Door in San Jose, California, on Sunday.

These shows both hold important weight for their respective companies and need major twists and turns to capture the attention of fans ahead of a busy summer of wrestling.

Who could turn on who? Could both shows deliver truly shocking heel or face turns that leave everyone shocked?

Heel: Jey Uso

Oba Femi and Jey Uso

It may seem odd to say Jey Uso is poised to turn heel when he is clearly still over with the WWE fanbase, but a heel turn for Jey could be the answer to his recent lack of edge.

Fans can still "Yeet" with Jey while he goes after top babyfaces in WWE, but he cannot keep playing nice with everyone to thrive.

Oba Femi will be cheered over Jey in the King of the Ring finals on Saturday. Jey will be the underdog and heel for this match.

However, the former world heavyweight champion would need to lean fully into that situation to truly turn into a villain.

Especially if Main Event wins King of the Ring and challenges Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns, fans will continue to support other stars over him.

Why not get ahead of it and let Jey embrace the heat while showing a fearless edge to challenge all authority? It may end up making him more popular.

Face: Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez

No group teases more turns in WWE than The Judgment Day. The possibility of a group member turning against everyone else is seemingly constant.

At this stage, though, there is one obvious star in need of a breakout: Roxanne Perez.

Lost in the shadow of Liv Morgan, The Prodigy does not fit in the group at present. She lacks strong support and clashes with everyone else.

While Perez did recently choose The Judgment Day over Finn Bálor, Morgan has only reinforced this decision as a bad one for The Prodigy's future in the aftermath.

Morgan's ego has brought her to the Queen of the Ring finals, and it would make sense for this to be the moment when Perez wants to hit at that ego by costing her a golden opportunity.

Heel: Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn is no longer a babyface, but it could be argued that he is still not truly a heel.

Fueled by his self-justification, The Last Real Good Guy has not fully turned against babyfaces like Cody Rhodes, but he hasn't aligned himself with a major heel like Gunther, either.

Instead, he stands in-between. However, with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line, Zayn may need to throw all his morals to win big.

If Zayn is willing to intentionally avoid The American Nightmare to steal the top title in the business, even he may be forced to reckon with his actions.

For a long time, The Last Real Good Guy has promised to win a world championship the right way. It may take the wrong path though to accomplish his dream, though.

Face: Andrade El Ídolo

The days of Andrade El Ídolo in The Don Callis Family are numbered.

Following the betrayal of Konosuke Takeshita by Kyle Fletcher, Andrade is next at threat of a Callis turn, especially due to his desire to challenge MJF.

While The Salt of the Earth is not a Family member, he has bought his way into Callis' heart and clearly has the heel manager's ear.

Locked inside a steel cage, El Ídolo is not going to be an easy ally to MJF, and it would not be surprising for The Salt of the Earth to brawl with El Ídolo.

This would set up for Andrade to challenge MJF at Grand Slam: Mexico as a babyface and embrace a warm crowd reception heading into All In.

Heel: Kenny Omega

On paper, a Kenny Omega heel turn seems unlikely at present, but there are signs that The Cleaner is not entirely a good man to trust.

After recent losses, Omega has struggled to process his physical decline, pushing himself again and again toward the AEW Men's World Championship.

If he loses to Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door, that would be a major setback for Omega on his road to the gold and could cause him to snap, much like Swerve Strickland snapped on him a few months back.

Omega as a heel makes more sense in the current AEW landscape, especially with Will Ospreay in pursuit of his Wembley Stadium moment at All In.

Omega vs. Ospreay is a money rematch that would need a clear bad guy to fully sell The Aerial Assassin as the new top face of AEW.

Omega attacking faces and cheating his way to another title shot would help solidify that story, perhaps as the All In main event.

Face: Mercedes Moné

When Mercedes Moné first arrived in AEW, she tried to play the babyface, but fans saw her more as the outsider.

This pushed The CEO to go heel and dominate as TBS champion. During her reign, though, AEW fans warmed to a woman who is making a strong argument to be among the greatest women's wrestlers of all time.

Fans want to root for Moné at this stage, and the only thing holding The CEO back from a true fan-favorite role is the story.

She needed to be the heel to face the underdog Maya World at Forbidden Door, but after that match, The CEO will need to be the face for a feud with Thekla.

The easy answer would be Maya earning Moné's respect in their match, setting up The CEO to begin respecting the women of AEW going forward.

This would put her at odds with AEW's top heel in the women's division. The Toxic Spider has run down and insulted every woman in AEW that crossed her path.

This is the path to the best possible match at All In, and a face turn would be an easy sell at this stage with Moné.
