Bills Officially Open New Highmark Stadium in Videos, Photos Ahead of 2026 NFL Season
The Buffalo Bills officially ushered in a new era on Tuesday.
The Bills opened the New Highmark Stadium with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and provided some looks at their new home:
Per NBC's Buffalo affiliate WGRZ, Bills owner Terry Pegula cut the ribbon alongside New York Governor Kathy Hochul and other executives. The project had been ongoing for over three years and had an estimated price of $2.1 billion.
"It's the verticality of it. It's the height of the building. It feels intimate in a way that the old stadium and a lot of stadiums that we visited just don't, right?" says Frank Cravotta, Vice President of Design for the the Buffalo Bills. "I can say it over and over, it just feels like a big hockey arena right when you get up top and you're hovering over that. So that's that's one. And that it's, you know, part of my job. It's beautiful, like it feels, like Terry said to me, when I walk in, Frank, I better know instantly I'm in Buffalo."
The Bills announced that the new Highmark Stadium will feature a capacity of 60,108 and a natural grass playing surface. It will also include seating bowl coverage, 360-degree concourses, frictionless food and beverage marketplaces and cutting-edge audio/visual features.
The Bills will open the 2026 season with a road game against the Houston Texans on Sept. 13 before playing their first game at the new Highmark Stadium against the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football on Sept. 17.
