Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd's Final Box Score Stats, Highlights as Wings Beat Storm
Welcome to the Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd show.
The former UConn teammates, who won a national championship together at the collegiate level, delivered in crunch time Monday and led the Dallas Wings to a dramatic 112-110 overtime victory over the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena.
Bueckers scored the Wings' final eight points of regulation with two three-pointers and a turnaround jumper to force overtime and then scored nine points in the extra period. But it was Fudd who scored what proved to be the game-winning layup in overtime on her way to a career-high 26 points.
Seattle still had a chance to win at the end, but Natisha Hiedeman missed a potential game-winner from deep at the buzzer.
Despite missing the shot, Hiedeman was part of a head-turning collective effort from the 3-15 Storm that included 37 points and 12 rebounds from Dominique Malonga along with great games from Awa Fam and Zia Cooke.

While Dallas may be something ahead of schedule at 11-6 with a young team that includes Bueckers and Fudd, it surely wants to parlay its quick start to the season into favorable playoff seeding. That's what makes the recent inconsistent stretch that saw it go 3-3 in the previous six somewhat concerning.
Monday felt like a golden opportunity to get back on track against a struggling Seattle team it just beat by 23 points earlier this month.
Yet the Storm had different ideas and seized a halftime lead when Malonga drilled a three-pointer in the final seconds of the second quarter. It was part of an impressive overall start for the home team with Malonga proving to be a nightmare matchup and Flau'jae Johnson facilitating.
Throw in Cooke providing a spark off the bench with her outside shooting, and it was clear Seattle was going to put up much more of a fight than the last time these two teams played.
In fact, it took back-to-back three-pointers from Fudd and Li Yueru at the end of the third quarter for the Wings to take a narrow one-point lead into the fourth. Fudd was on fire as the primary scoring threat for extended stretches, while Jessica Shepard also did a little bit of everything while stuffing the stat sheet.
Their contributions helped make up for a relatively slow scoring start for Bueckers as the Storm swarmed around the MVP candidate whenever she went into the lane and also appeared to set the stage for the Wings to finally seize control of what was expected to be a straightforward win in the fourth.
Yet Malonga wouldn't let them as she continued to pose a matchup problem for the visitors with her height down low and touch around the rim. Every time it seemed like Dallas was going to pull away, the center had an answer.
Then it was Fam and Hiedeman's turn, as they hit back-to-back three-pointers to give the Storm a four-point lead with just more than two minutes remaining. By the time Hiedeman drilled a pull-up to extend the lead to six, it looked as if the Storm were going to put the finishing touches on an impressive win.
That is, until Bueckers shifted into takeover mode at winning time.
