Angel Reese Reacts to Making WNBA History in Dream's Win vs. Caitlin Clark, Fever

Julia StumbaughJun 20, 2026

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese says she's reflecting on achieving "some great things" in her WNBA career after becoming the fastest player in league history to grab 1,000 career rebounds.

Reese hit the milestone in 10 fewer games than WNBA legend Tina Charles to set a new record during the Dream's Saturday win over Caitlin Clark and the visiting Indiana Fever.

"I think people don't realize, rebounding is harder than you think," Reese told reporters after the Dream's 113-96 victory. "Defensive rebounds are a little bit easier, but going in and crashing every single time to get second-chance opportunities on the offensive end— You can look statistically. They're not just for my shots, they're for my teammates.

"And it gives us more points. It gives us more opportunities. And just being able to come out and do what I do every single night just shows to my consistency."

Reese concluded: "I think a lot of times I'm really hard on myself about what I want to be and how great I want to be, but just taking my time and just knowing that I've done some great things, and just patting myself on the back, and just knowing that I want more."

Charles set the previous standard for the fastest time to 1,000 career rebounds by hitting the mark in her 89th game.

Reese broke that record in her 79th career game with her sixth rebound of the afternoon.

She finished out the Dream's win with eight rebounds to go alongside 18 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field.

The Fever also went 0-for-8 from the field through the last three quarters when matched up with Reese as their primary defender, per ESPN Insights.

Reese went into Saturday's game leading the WNBA in rebounds with 12.2 per contest. She has also paced the league in double-doubles with 11 in her first 15 games of the season.

The Dream acquired Reese from the Chicago Sky in April in exchange for two first-round picks.

That deal has so far paid off for the Dream, which improved to 11-4 and leapfrogged the New York Liberty for the top spot in the Eastern Conference following Saturday's win over the Fever.
