Hurricanes Player Signs New Contract at Championship Parade on Video, '2 More F--king Years'
Veteran forward Nicolas Deslauriers highlighted the Carolina Hurricanes' 2026 Stanley Cup victory parade by committing to two more years in North Carolina.
Deslauriers signed his new deal on stage at the Canes' victory parade on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh.
"Two more f--king years," Deslauriers announced to the crowd.
Deslauriers will receive $850,000 next season and $900,000 in 2027-28 on his new deal, according to the Hurricanes.
The deal will keep Deslauriers, who was previously set to hit free agency on July 1, under contract through his age-36 season.
Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky named Deslauriers' "fit in with our locker room and culture" as part of the reason behind the extension.
"He provides a veteran presence and adds a physical element to our roster," Tulsky said in a statement about Deslauriers.
The Hurricanes acquired Deslauriers from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a conditional seventh-rounder ahead of the March deadline.
He appeared in seven regular-season games for the Hurricanes and played in one contest of the Hurricanes' first-round sweep of the Ottawa Senators.
Deslauriers was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2009. He has recorded 106 points (53 goals, 53 assists) across 708 regular-season games for six clubs over 13 NHL seasons.
He is now set to remain a depth option on the wing as the Hurricanes begin defending their first title in two decades next fall.
