Caitlin Clark Says She's 'Easy to Coach,' Discusses Stephanie White Relationship Amid Fever Season
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark says her relationship with coach Stephanie White is strong because the two share the same "competitive fire."
"I think I'm easy to coach, and Steph would say the same thing," Clark said around the 3:10 mark of a recent interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews. "And I think, at times, maybe difficult, too, because I don't think there's many people that get guarded the way I do. So I think you have to get creative, scheme-wise. But I don't think there's a better person to do that than Coach Steph.

"I love Coach Steph, and I think what I love about her the most is her competitive fire is the same exact as mine. We'll go at it, but at the end of day, we love each other so much. That's what makes it fun, and there's nobody else you want to go to war with if they're not going to be like that."
That game-planning has been paying off recently for Clark, who ranks fourth in the WNBA with 20.8 points per game and second with 8.2 assists per game through 14 contests.
Clark's net rating has also improved over the Fever's last few games, a sign of what the Fever star has said is an effort to improve her individual defensive effort.
The relationship between Clark and White came under scrutiny earlier this season during the Fever's 4-4 start, which was capped off by a heated sideline exchange during a May 30 loss to the Portland Fire.
Clark told reporters after the video went viral the discussion had been "two people being competitive." White said she was "challenging a player" she has a "great" relationship with.
After an up-and-down start to the campaign, the Fever recently gained momentum by going 5-1 in Commissioner's Cup play before dropping a Thursday matchup against the Atlanta Dream.
White will look to help Clark continue improving her defense to match her offensive production as the Fever prepares for a rematch against the Dream this Saturday in Atlanta at 1 p.m. ET.
