Kam Curl Hypes Rams' Defense After Myles Garrett Trade, Talks Aaron Donald Rumors in Videos
Los Angeles Rams safety Kam Curl says he feels his team has the potential to field a "legendary" defense after acquiring Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson this offseason.
"It's early, but I feel like we've got a chance to be legendary," Curl told Kay Adams in a Thursday appearance on the Up & Adams Show. "Just the type of guys we've got, and the coaches we've got.
"We've got a bunch of experience back there. We've got Super Bowl winners in there. We've got some Defensive Players of the Year. We've got some guys that, if we do what we've got to do, we could be one of the best."
It remains to be seen whether that defense will feature former Rams star Aaron Donald, who hasn't played since the 2023 season but hinted he was considering returning to play after Garrett was acquired from the Cleveland Browns.
Curl told Adams, however, he hasn't recently seen Donald around the Rams facility.
"I want him to, too," Curl said when asked about NFL fans wanting Donald to make a comeback. "I want to play with him."
Whether or not Donald decides to attempt a comeback, the Rams are set to deploy a formidable pass rush next season after adding Garrett in the wake of his 23-sack 2025 campaign.
He, Watson and McDuffie are now set to join a Rams defense which lost linebacker Jared Verse but is bringing back players including edge rusher Byron Young and Curl.
Curl set a franchise record last season by recording 122 tackles in 17 games for the Rams, and his overtime interception of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams helped seal the Rams' divisional round win last January.
The 27-year-old's ability to remain one of the NFL's top tackling safeties in 2026 will be key to the Rams' hopes of fielding a league-best defense this fall.
