Will Ospreay Beats Swerve Strickland to Win Owen Hart Cup and AEW World Title Shot at All In

Will Ospreay beat Swerve Strickland in the 2026 men's Owen Hart Cup final at Forbidden Door on Sunday to earn an AEW World Championship match at All In on Aug. 30.

Ospreay and Strickland looked like the top two contenders to win the Owen Hart Foundation tournament when it started, and they cemented their status over the first two rounds.

In the first round, Ospreay beat a two-time AEW world champion in Samoa Joe, and he followed that up with a victory over AEW national champion Mark Davis in the semifinals.

As for Swerve, he took down two-time ROH world champion Bandido in the first round and Bandido's former AEW world tag team champion partner in Brody King in the semis.

The Ospreay vs. Swerve final was set when Strickland was victorious on the June 10 episode of Dynamite, and they had a face-to-face confrontation one week later.

Strickland took issue with Ospreay's new attitude and the fact that he has been working closely with The Death Riders after Ospreay and Swerve joined forces to go up against them last year.

Miffed by Strickland's line of questioning, Ospreay hit him with a stiff punch, which prompted Swerve to wield a chain.

The Death Riders came to Ospreay's defense, causing Strickland to leave the ring, but not before his comments about Ospreay's alliance with The Death Riders were validated to some degree.

Ospreay vs. Strickland felt like an evenly matched final in the Owen Hart Cup, although Ospreay was the favorite given that All In will take place in his hometown of London.

With Ospreay beating Strickland at Forbidden Door, it means he will have a chance to become AEW world champion for the first time in front of his fellow English countrymen.
