The Golden State Valkyries are rounding into form.

Golden State extended its winning streak to four and improved to 10-5 overall with a 91-80 victory over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday at Chase Center. It was the first of three meetings between the teams this season, and the Valkyries got the best of Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and Co.

Gabby Williams and Kaitlyn Chen spearheaded the victorious effort, while Arike Ogunbowale led the way with 21 for the Wings. Bueckers challenged for a double-double while Fudd added some late scoring, but it wasn't enough to get the win.

Dallas is still a solid 9-6 on the campaign, but it is just 2-3 in its last five.

Bueckers has also been dealing with an ankle injury that sidelined her for Saturday's loss to the Portland Fire, and it looked like she was still working through some rust in the early going even though Wednesday was her second game back in the lineup.

In fact, the entire Wings team looked like it was dealing with rust as it scored a grand total of seven points in the second quarter.

Bueckers had two points at the half on just 1-of-6 shooting, while Fudd went scoreless before intermission. The offense was stuck in mud with Jessica Shepard the only real bright spot, although Bueckers was at least facilitating despite her poor shooting efforts.

On the other side, Williams found her shooting stroke and put the Valkyries up 11 at halftime despite Dallas controlling the first quarter. Chen and Tiffany Hayes also provided a spark off the bench with their offense, and Golden State turned in one of the most dominant quarters of the season.

Still, Dallas wasn't about to repeat that effort in the second half.

The visitors were much better in the third quarter with Bueckers dishing out assists and scoring, Fudd finally breaking through with three baskets of her own, and Ogunbowale putting the team on her back for an extended stretch to help close the gap.

By the time Bueckers assisted on a Sug Sutton three-pointer at the third-quarter buzzer, the Wings cut the deficit to two and had all the momentum heading into the fourth despite Williams continuing to lead the way for the Valkyries.

Yet that momentum disappeared in that fourth quarter.

Golden State pushed the advantage back to double digits in the fourth quarter with Williams continuing to score and Chen getting into the lane. While Dallas cut into the lead with a Fudd three and more scoring from Bueckers, the Valkyries kept the challengers at bay with timely baskets and free throws.

The Wings will have a chance to bounce back at home when they face the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
