Deion Sanders Explains Why Travis Hunter Should Continue Playing Offense, Defense for Jaguars
After Travis Hunter's success on defense in 2025, rumors have swirled about him possibly being a full-time cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
His former coach, Deion Sanders, believes Hunter should continue to play on both sides of the ball.
"The kid won the Heisman Trophy playing both sides of the ball," Sanders said, per DJ Siddiqi of Covers. "That's all I gotta say on that."
Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in 2025, recorded 298 yards and a touchdown on 28 receptions in just seven games. On defense, he had 15 tackles and three passes defended.
ESPN's Michael DiRocco reported in April that some within the Jaguars organization believe Hunter has already established himself as the team's best cornerback."
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted in April that Hunter would be moving towards playing more cornerback than receiver in 2026, but Hunter pushed back on that report.
Hunter is bound to make an impact no matter where he plays once he returns from injury. Where he'll see the most snaps remains to be seen.
