76ers' Mike Gansey Apologizes to Phillies' Jesús Luzardo for Jinxing No-Hitter in Trending Video
Newly-hired Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey apologized to Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jesús Luzardo for jinxing his no-hitter on Tuesday's NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast.
Gansey noted on camera the no-hitter against the Miami Marlins was "still intact" seconds before Luzardo gave up his first hit of the game in the fifth inning.
"Apologize for last night, I jinxed you with your no-hitter," Gansey said in a video shared Wednesday by the 76ers. "But you pitched great and got a win, that's all that matters."
Gansey added he has two tickets for Luzardo if he ever wants to attend a Sixers game.
Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Marlins marked the first Phillies game attended by Gansey, who was hired earlier this month after previously serving as general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Luzardo ultimately allowed five hits in the win. He also struck out nine batters while allowing just two runs in seven innings to help lead the Phillies to victory.
The 28-year-old has recorded a 3.32 ERA and 1.307 WHIP across 15 starts and 85.2 innings for the Phillies, who currently sit second in the NL East after a 40-33 start to the season.
