Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Attends Lionel Messi, Argentina World Cup Opener in Trending Videos, Photos

Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in attendance to watch Lionel Messi and Argentina face Algeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night.

Mahomes was spotted at Arrowhead Stadium for the match.

Mahomes also reacted to Messi scoring his second goal of the night to give Argentina a 2-0 lead in a post on X.

The two stars previously met ahead of an MLS match between Inter Miami and Sporting Kansas City in 2024.

Mahomes is currently preparing for the 2026 NFL season after his 2025 campaign came to an early end due to a torn ACL.

In 14 games prior to the injury, the three-time Super Bowl champion completed 62.7 percent of his throws for 3,587 yards and 22 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions.
