Bears Sign UFL WR Kaden Davis, Updated Depth Chart Ahead of 2026 NFL Season
The Chicago Bears added some wide receiver depth Tuesday in the form of former UFL wideout and return specialist Kaden Davis.
Davis' agent, Sean Stellato, informed ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday that Davis had agreed to a one-year contract with the Bears.
Following the addition of Davis, the Bears' wide receiver depth chart now looks like this entering training camp and the preseason:
WR1: Rome Odunze / Zavion Thomas / Kaden Davis / JP Richardson
WR2: Luther Burden III / Scotty Miller / Maurice Alexander / Kyron Hudson
WR3: Kalif Raymond / Jahdae Walker / Omari Kelly
An undrafted player out of Northwest Missouri State in 2022, the 27-year-old Davis has bounced around between multiple organizations both within and outside of the NFL.
Davis most notably spent some time with the Cleveland Browns over the past two seasons, appearing in one regular-season game in 2024 and two last season.
While he did not record a reception, Davis averaged 35.7 yards on three kick returns in 2024 and 28 yards on one kick return last season.
Davis has also had stints with the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions, but he did not play in any regular-season contests for those teams.
His most significant playing time at the professional level occurred in the USFL with the Michigan Panthers in 2023 and in the UFL with the Houston Gamblers this past season.
Davis caught eight passes for 83 yards and returned both kicks and punts for the Panthers in 2023, and this year he made four grabs for 32 yards, while also returning kicks for the Gamblers.
After trading DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills and losing both Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay in free agency this offseason, the Bears have some opportunities available at the wide receiver return man spots.
Moore and Zaccheaus were two of the Bears' top four wideouts last season, and their departures leave Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III as quarterback Caleb Williams' clear top two options at that position.
Outside of them, the Bears have longtime former Detroit Lions receiver and return specialist Kalif Raymond, rookie third-round pick Zavion Thomas, and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburgh Steelers slot receiver Scotty Miller.
Someone with receiver and return man flexibility like Davis could be of great value to the Bears since Duvernay was their return specialist last season as well.
Raymond is the leading candidate to replace Duvernay, while simultaneously serving as Chicago's WR3 thanks to his relationship with Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who was previously his offensive coordinator with the Lions.
Davis also spent some time with Johnson as his OC in Detroit in 2024, though, which suggests he may have a real chance to make the roster in Chicago as a WR5 or WR6 should he perform well during the preseason.
