Stefon Diggs Talks Potential Commanders Contract, WR 'Working Through Some Things' in Free Agency
Free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs has yet to find a home for the 2026 season, but it seems he's interested in a potential deal with the Washington Commanders.
Diggs, a Maryland native, discussed the idea of playing near his hometown and said that he and the Commanders are still "working through some things."
"I never realized how many fans it was back home until I was a free agent and people were like, 'Are you going to come back home?'" Diggs told Fox 5 DC (h/t Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams). "Especially when they see me back. I'm like this, I've been living here for my whole life. I've been living here for 10 years. They was just like this, 'Oh, we never see you.' I was like, 'Man, y'all wasn't looking.'

"It's a lot of hopes. We're kind of figuring it out, working through some things. I did have a small piece of me, like, 'Damn, it would be great to come home and play in front of the fans I used to play in front of as a young adolescent in college and just kind of doing something for the city.' Hopefully, things do work out. We'll see how it goes."
Diggs spent the 2025 campaign with the New England Patriots, where he recorded 1,013 yards and four touchdowns as the team made its first Super Bowl appearance since 2018.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said last week that bringing Diggs back is likely off the table.
The Commanders could use another wide receiver with Deebo Samuel potentially leaving in free agency, and Diggs could be the answer for Washington.
