Texas Sends Alabama Packing
Adrian Rodriguez almost singlehandedly eliminated Alabama from the College World Series, accumulating five hits (one homer), seven RBI and a run during Texas' 14-2 win on Monday.
On most days, Anthony Pack Jr. (three hits, one homer, four RBI, three runs) or pitcher Ruger Riojas (six innings, two runs allowed, seven strikeouts) would have been the main characters.
But not on Monday. Rodriguez stole the show and kept Texas alive in the Elimination Bracket. Alabama's season, meanwhile, is now over.
Oklahoma 4, Georgia 3
The Sooners stayed undefeated in Omaha after surviving a close one against the Bulldogs.
Oklahoma got started early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first after an RBI single and a two-run home run from Jaxon Willits.
Georgia got its first run across in the fourth when Kenny Ishikawa homered, but the Sooners answered right back on a home run from Brendan Brock.
Brennan Hudson tacked on another homer for the Bulldogs in the fifth, and Daniel Jackson added one more in the eighth to get Georgia within a run.
Georgia looked as if it might rally in the top of the ninth while trailing by a run, as the Bulldogs got a pair of runners on, but pitcher Jackson Cleveland got a strikeout and a pop out to end it.
The Bulldogs are still alive despite the loss, since it was just their first in Omaha.
