New MLB Trade Rumors Reveal Phillies Targets, 'Desperately' Seeking Adolis Garcia Injury Replacement

Timothy RappJun 14, 2026

The Philadelphia Phillies have had a major need for a right-handed bat to protect players like Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the middle of the lineup this season, which only became magnified when right-fielder Adolis García was put on the 60-day injured list with a torn lat.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the team is "desperately looking to acquire an outfielder at the trade deadline" and has "Los Angeles right fielder Jo Adell and Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki on their radar."

Adell, 27, is hitting .249 this season with 10 homers, 39 RBI, 33 runs and a .684 OPS. It's been a bit of a down year after he hit a career-high 37 homers last season, but he'd certainly be an upgrade for the Phillies.

Suzuki, 31, is hitting .255 with 10 homers, 28 RBI, 31 runs and a .772 OPS. That's also a bit of a down year for him, albeit less markedly than Adell.

The Angels seem more likely to be sellers at some point than the Cubs, given their 29-42 record. But Chicago is just 10-22 since May 9, and if those struggles continue they could end up as sellers as well.
