Brandon Aiyuk Posts Cryptic IG Video amid 49ers Trade, Release Rumors

Brandon Aiyuk has posted another video.

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver posted a video of himself dancing on Instagram on Sunday with the caption, "Coming to a endzone near 🫵!!"

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted the video came just two days after he deleted multiple Instagram videos criticizing the 49ers for not releasing him.

"Combined with his decision to extend an olive branch by deleting the videos, it's hard not to wonder whether the 49ers have decided to abandon the effort to trade Aiyuk and to cut the cord in the coming days," Florio speculated. "That would avoid the awkward dance of Aiyuk showing up to training camp and forcing his release."

Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million contract with the 49ers after the 2023 season but has not played since he suffered a torn ACL and MCL during the 2024 campaign.

In one of his recently deleted Instagram videos, he said, "You wanna know why they really mad though? They mad because they stupid. They mad because they paid me $50 million in eight months. And then voided my guarantees for 2027. And I'm about to be on a new team in 2026. They mad at themselves."

In January, general manager John Lynch told reporters it was "safe to say that he's played his last snap with the Niners."

ESPN's Nick Wagoner reported the team and wide receiver "have been at odds in some capacity for nearly a year."

San Francisco voided the remaining guaranteed money on his deal last July when he didn't participate in rehab sessions. It also placed him on the reserve/left team list in December when he was not showing up to the team facility.

According to Wagoner, many around the league believe Aiyuk prefers to end up with the Washington Commanders so he can catch passes from former college teammate Jayden Daniels.

Yet Wagoner also explained there is "no hard deadline" for the 49ers to release him since he is on the reserve/left squad list and does not count against the 90-man roster. What's more, he is not being paid and could face fines of up to $50,000 per day if he doesn't report to training camp in July.

However, the situation has gotten ugly. Releasing him sooner rather than later will allow the player and team to move on and prevent it from hanging over the 49ers going into the 2026 campaign.

When he last played a full season in 2023, Aiyuk finished with 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.
