Brooks Koepka Injured Ahead of US Open, Latest Updates As Golfer Withdraws from RBC Canadian Open

Scott PolacekJun 14, 2026

Brooks Koepka's status ahead of the U.S. Open will be a major storyline after he withdrew from the RBC Canadian Open with a hand injury.

"Yeah, I don't know what it is," he said, per Golf.com. "I'm struggling to grip the club with my ring finger and pinkie finger, so can't grip it. So the club is kind of just, my fingers would come loose, it was kind of numb. I don't know what the deal was but hopefully we'll figure it out."

He did not provide any definitive statement about whether he will be available for the U.S. Open, which starts Thursday. He remains in the field without that update.

Koepka is always a headline name when he is in the field and figures to generate even more attention than usual at the U.S. Open if he does play.

After all, he won the event the last time it was played at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York in 2018. He is also a five-time major champion with two of those titles coming at the U.S. Open.

He won the 2017 U.S. Open as well at Erin Hills in Wisconsin.

Koepka played fairly well at the RBC Canadian Open with a 64 in the opening round and a 68 in the second round. He shot a 72 in Saturday's third round before withdrawing because of the injury.

The 36-year-old has returned to the PGA Tour this year after spending time with LIV and made the cut in nine of his 12 events. He finished in a tie for ninth place at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches and then tied for 13th place at The Players Championship.

Most notably, he finished in a tie for 12th at the Masters.

Koepka has not been able to participate in all the PGA Tour's signature events this year as he plays his way back into various fields upon his return from LIV, but the U.S. Open is a chance for him to bolster his resume and chase another major title.

That is, if he's healthy.
