Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. Talks 'Overrated' Chants from Guardians Fans Prior to HR With Judge's Bat
New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. suggested Tuesday that he enjoyed being on the receiving end of taunts from Cleveland Guardians fans.
After hitting what proved to be the game-winning home run in the eighth inning of a 3-2 win over the Guardians on Tuesday, Chisholm commented on the fans' "overrated" chants directed toward him in Cleveland, telling reporters, "I love it. Kind of. I feel like that was the loudest chants all day we heard, so I think it was great."

While Chisholm admitted to getting too hyped up upon hearing the chants in the fifth inning, leading to a strikeout, he explained what allowed him to lock in during the eighth inning against Guardians reliever Tim Herrin.
"I swung at the first pitch and realized that it was going to be tough to hit the slider on the outside corner, so I was just waiting on a ball to start right at me. I got one and handled it," Chisholm said. "He's a good pitcher and doesn't really miss the spot. So for him to miss in that situation right there in that spot, it's just like a huge sigh of relief."
The 28-year-old Chisholm is in the midst of his third season with the Yankees and his seventh MLB season overall following a trade from the Miami Marlins during the 2024 campaign.
A two-time All-Star, Chisholm won the American League Silver Slugger Award at second base last season, slashing .242/.332/.481 with a career-high 31 home runs, 80 RBI and 75 runs scored, plus 31 stolen bases.
Chisholm became only the third different Yankees player to ever enter the 30-30 club in homers and steals in the same season, and the first since Alfonso Soriano did it in back-to-back seasons in 2002 and 2003.
Because of that, expectations were high for Jazz entering the 2026 season, but he has had his fair share of ups and downs.
Although he is slashing just .231/.307/.402, he has continued to flash a unique combination of power and speed with nine homers and 16 RBI to go along with 26 RBI and 32 runs.
Chisholm has only four hits in 24 at-bats during the month of June, but three of those hits are homers, and they have all come over the past six games, which suggests he may be heating up at the perfect time.
Each of his past two home runs were hit while using one of superstar outfielder Aaron Judge's bats as well.
The Yanks placed Judge on the injured list last week due to a stress fracture of his rib, and he is expected to miss at least four-to-six weeks as a result.
Because of that, the Yankees need other top dogs in the lineup to step up, including Chisholm, Ben Rice and Cody Bellinger.
Chisholm has been up to the task lately, and if he keeps it up, the Yanks may be able to stay alive in a tight AL East race with the Rays while Judge continues to recover.
