Caitlin Clark, Fever vs. Liberty Was 2nd-Most Viewed WNBA Game This Century, How Many Fans Watched?
An average of 2.557 million viewers (with a peak of 3.02 million) watched the New York Liberty's 83-75 home win over the Indiana Fever, which aired on CBS on Saturday evening.
That game is now the second-most watched WNBA contest in the regular season or postseason since 2000.
This game was a big draw for the star power, as Caitlin Clark and the Fever battled Breanna Stewart and the Liberty.
Stewart led the short-handed Liberty, who were missing Sabrina Ionescu, with 30 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Clark had an off-night offensively (10 points on 4-of-14 shooting) but amassed nine assists and seven rebounds.
Clark was also involved in the most-watched regular season or playoff game since 2000 when she led the Fever to a 93-58 win over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky in May 2025, per Per Jon Lewis of Sports Media Watch.
That game averaged 2.7 million viewers on ABC and peaked at 3.1 million. It was the second-most watched WNBA game since 2000, trailing only the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game (3.44 million).
The matchup featured the United States Olympic women's basketball team taking on a team of WNBA All-Stars, including Clark and Reese. The All-Stars won, 117-109. Team USA went on to win gold at the Paris Games.
Per Lewis, the most-watched WNBA game ever was the league's inaugural battle on June 21, 1997, when the Liberty beat the host Los Angeles Sparks, 67-57.
