Abdul Carter Injury Updates After Giants LB Seen Limping 'VERY Gingerly' at Minicamp

The New York Giants are reportedly dealing with an injury scare during the start of mandatory minicamp on Monday.

According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Giants linebacker Abdul Carter was seen "limping VERY gingerly" out of Monday's practice. He reportedly had his entire left shoe and sock off as he was being examined by trainers.

New York coach John Harbaugh addressed the situation after practice:

The No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Carter didn't miss a game during his rookie year, though he didn't make the immediate impact that was expected of him. He had just half a sack through the first 12 games of the season before finishing the year with 43 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Carter is a member of a deep Giants pass-rush that also includes veterans Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux. New York used the No. 5 pick in this year's draft to select linebacker Arvell Reese, further bolstering its defense ahead of its first season under new head coach John Harbaugh.

The Giants ranked 28th in the NFL with 359.5 yards allowed per game last season, so Harbaugh will have his work cut out for him as he tries to turn things around this year. Potentially losing Carter would be a blow to New York's depth, so the team will be anxious to get more clarity on his injury.

If Carter is forced to miss time, Reese could see time as an edge rusher sooner than expected. Harbaugh previously said that the plan was to let him play linebacker as a rookie before developing him as a pass-rusher, but Carter's injury could force him to adjust quickly.
