'Backyard Baseball' Announces Return of Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, More MLB Icons in Video

Several MLB icons will be back in the upcoming "Backyard Baseball" video game.

Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Vladimir Guerrero, Kenny Lofton, Chipper Jones, Jason Giambi, and Jeff Bagwell were all confirmed to be in the game on Saturday.

The game marks the return of Backyard Baseball, which originally released in Oct. 1997. It was re-released by Playground Productions in 2001, featuring a roster that included notable MLB stars at the time including Sosa and McGwire.

Sosa earned seven All-Star nods and one National League MVP award during his career with the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles. He amassed 609 home runs across 18 years in the majors.

McGwire ended his career with 12 All-Star selections and a World Series title in 1989. He racked up 583 homers in 1,874 regular-season games.

Backyard Baseball will launch for PC via Steam on July 9.
