Friday's Results

West Virginia kicked off super regional weekend with a rout of Cal Poly.

The Mountaineers broke the game open in the fourth inning on a grand slam from No. 9 hole hitter Tyrus Hall.

Hall was one of five West Virginia batters to record multiple hits in Friday's series opener.

Chansen Cole struck out 11 batters over seven innings in the 12-2 victory.

USC scored eight of its nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn a road win in Chapel Hill.

Dean Carpentier's grand slam gave the Trojans the lead in the sixth inning.

Another grand slam in the Troy super regional gave Troy an emphatic Game 1 advantage over Little Rock.

Jabe Boroff, who also hit a grand slam in the regional round, hit two home runs in the battle of mid-major programs.

No grand slams occurred in the Ole Miss-Auburn game, but the Rebels did become the second road team to pick up a Game 1 victory on Friday.

Ole Miss used four runs spread across the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead. Judd Utermark went yard in the fifth and Collin Reuter followed up with a long ball in the sixth.

Auburn, the second-highest seeded team left in the tournament, will try to win from behind for the second consecutive weekend. The Tigers won four games in a row to claim the regional title last weekend after an opening loss to Milwaukee.

All eight super regional matchups are on the Saturday slate. West Virginia, Troy, USC and Ole Miss all need one win to secure spots in the College World Series.
