Kyle Busch's Wife Samantha Makes 1st Public Statement Since NASCAR Driver's Death

Samantha Busch, the widow of Kyle Busch, has issued her first public statement since the NASCAR legend's death on May 21.

In a post on Instagram, Samantha expressed gratitude for all of the support the family has received over the past two weeks:

"As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

"The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God's presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.

"The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone. 

"From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well.

"Thank you for loving Kyle.

"Thank you for honoring him.

"We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful."

The Busch family and NASCAR announced on May 21 that Busch died at the age of 41.

It was revealed two days later by Dakota Hunter, vice president of Kyle Busch Companies, that Busch's death was the result of a bout of severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis.

Busch was initially thought to have a sinus cold during a race at Watkins Glen on May 10 when he requested a "shot" from a doctor after finishing the event. He was later hospitalized with what was described as a "severe illness."

A two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Busch joined the circuit in 2004 and racked up 63 wins over his storied career. He spent 15 years with Joe Gibbs Racing before joining Richard Childress Racing in 2023.

Kyle and Samantha were married in December 2010. The couple had two children, one son and one daughter, together.
