Summer Predictions for WWE and AEW 🔮

It turns out fans aren't the only ones unhappy with the lack of storyline direction for Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan coming out of WrestleMania.

Per WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Wrestle Purists), there has been "internal frustration" about the lack of direction for the Judgment Day duo.

The report does note WWE expects to use both of them more in the coming weeks, with Mysterio likely to be featured as the build to TripleMania starts to pick up.

Morgan hasn't wrestled on television since the Raw after WrestleMania when she defeated Sol Ruca. The women's world champion defeated Stephanie Vaquer for the title at WrestleMania.

An injury to Vaquer put a pause on their feud, which was expected to continue post-WrestleMania, but it is odd there was no replacement creative in place for arguably the top female star on the Raw roster.

This also led to the strange decision to include Morgan in the Queen of the Ring tournament when the winner gets a title shot against the champion of their choosing, though she has tried to explain it.

If nothing else, Morgan will finally wrestle again on the upcoming episode of Raw when she takes on Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green in the first round of the Queen of the Ring tournament.

Hopefully, this will lead to the start of a storyline for Morgan and the women's championship with SummerSlam approaching on Aug. 1-2.

MJF Injury Update

In his first title defense after recapturing the AEW world championship, MJF didn't make it through his bout with Rush on Wednesday's episode of Dynamite completely unscathed.

Per Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com (h/t Wrestle Purists), MJF did legitimately injure his knee at one point during the match but AEW is hopeful it's not serious.

MJF had been scheduled to wrestle Bobby Orlando at Friday's Beyond Wrestling event in Rhode Island, but the promotion announced on Thursday he had to withdraw because he wasn't cleared to travel or compete due to a hyperextended knee.

In the newest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Cultaholic Wrestling), Dave Meltzer added MJF is "in pain" due to swelling in his knee, but there's no concern at this point about the plans for him going into Forbidden Door.

MJF won the AEW title for the third time by defeating Darby Allin in the main event at Double or Nothing. It's unclear when in the match against Rush the injury occurred, but he made it through without any obvious issue.

While AEW has yet to confirm MJF's match at the June 28 pay-per-view, all signs point to Mark Briscoe challenging for the title. The Sussex County Chicken has confronted The Devil in each of the past two weeks, then cut a promo on the champ after defeating Lio Rush on Dynamite.

Mick Foley Interested in 1 More Match

In the wake of his AEW debut at Double or Nothing as a commentator, Mick Foley is at least entertaining the possibility of stepping in the ring one more time.

Per WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Wrestle Purists), people in AEW believe that Foley "made up his mind" about wrestling one final time and it would be in AEW.

It's unclear if that will happen because Foley would have to medically cleared, but the report did note Tony Khan "would be eager" to book the match if things came together.

Foley and AEW did plant the seeds for a potential bout with MJF by having him confront the Hardcore Legend on the Double or Nothing pre-show, culminating in MJF hitting him with a low blow.

Even though that was part of a set up for Foley to cut a promo encouraging Allin in his title defense later in the show, he's not doing anything to quiet the speculation.

Appearing on Tuesday's episode of The Ariel Helwani Show (h/t Sean Reuter of Cageside Seats), Foley said "I think I have one last good match in me." He did add that "all the stars would have to align" for that to happen.

Foley, who will turn 61 on Sunday, last wrestled in 2015 when he defeated Mickey Gambino for the OMEGA promotion.

Even if Foley doesn't end up getting back into the ring, his presence in AEW was a welcome sight at Double or Nothing and he can still cut a promo to build up an event if he gets called upon.
