Golden Knights vs. Hurricanes Goal Scorers, Highlights and Recap from NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 2
We've got ourselves a Stanley Cup Finals, folks.
The Carolina Hurricanes overcame a 2-0 deficit on Thursday, scoring three third-period goals and adding the game-winner in overtime, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in Game 2 to even the series at a game apiece.
It was Seth Jarvis who provided the game-ending tally, scoring on a one-timer in overtime to give the Hurricanes a must-have victory.
But it was quite the ride to get to that point.
Brett Howden notched goals in both the first and second periods to give the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead in the game, putting them in the driver's seat to go up 2-0 in the series.
But the Hurricanes can score quickly, and in bunches. They did just that within a five-minute span in the third period off the sticks of Logan Stankoven, Mark Jankowski and Jordan Staal.
Oh, did you think the drama was over there?
Not so fast, kids. Mark Stone tied the game with a little over a minute remaining, setting up a dramatic finish.
It was a crucial win for the Hurricanes, who faced the possibility of going back to Las Vegas for Games 3-4 down 2-0.
Frederik Andersen made 23 saves on 26 shots for the Hurricanes, and here's how close this game was—he made exactly one more save than Carter Hart, who stopped 22 of Carolina's 26 attempts.
Both games in this series have been wild. It was the Hurricanes who were up 2-0 in Game 1 before Vegas came storming back, winning 5-4 on Tomas Hertl's game-winner late in the third period.
The madness will continue in Las Vegas on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (ABC).
