Williams is a 12-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who has played 15 NFL seasons.
Williams, who will be 38 when the season begins, has been a massive part of the team's success since the 49ers acquired him from Washington in April 2020.
Since then, the 49ers have made four postseasons, three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl.
It's understandable why Williams will perhaps look to end his assured Pro Football Hall of Fame career in a couple years considering his stated desire to be around his family more plus the length of his NFL tenure.
In the meantime, though, Williams is still an invaluable member of the 49ers' offense. San Francisco is coming off a 12-5 season that ended in the NFC Divisional round despite a host of injuries on both sides of the ball, including season-enders to defensive stars Nick Bosa and Fred Warner.
A healthier season could certainly go a long way toward the 49ers returning to the Super Bowl. They have a tough NFC West to deal with thanks to the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the NFC runner-up Los Angeles Rams, but the 49ers will be competitive in their own right thanks in part to Williams, one of the NFL's best left tackles.
