Cobolli Beats Auger-Aliassime, Updated French Open Men's Bracket at Roland-Garros

Flavio Cobolli is going to the French Open semifinal after taking down Félix Auger-Aliassime 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in their quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday.

The opening set went in Auger-Aliassime's favor before Cobolli hit his stride. His serve, in particular, came alive starting in the second set. He had two aces and won 86 percent of his first-serve points to even things up.

Cobolli's serve only got more effective from that point with four aces in the third set. He also did a good job of keeping Auger-Aliassime in check after his serve was so instrumental in getting him to this point.

Auger-Aliassime averaged 12 aces per match through the first four rounds. He did manage seven in this match, but his four double-faults were two more than in the previous two rounds combined.

Cobolli had 10 break-point opportunities in the match, converting five of them. By comparison, Auger-Aliassime only went 3-of-11 on his break-point chances.

This is now the best run Cobolli has had in a Grand Slam tournament in his career. He previously reached the quarterfinal at Wimbledon last year before falling to Novak Djokovic. It also sets him up to potentially move into the top 10 of the ATP rankings, depending on how things play out in the semifinals.

Wednesday's win sets Cobolli up for a semifinal showdown with the winner of the Matteo Berrettini-Matteo Arnaldi match later on Wednesday. Cobolli has never played Berrettini.

He has split two head-to-head meetings with Arnaldi, with Cobolli's win coming in the second round of the 2025 French Open. The men's semifinal matches will be played on Friday.
