Jaxson Dart, Odell Beckham Jr. Connection Spotlighted in Highlight Videos From Giants OTAs
Quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. started to build a rapport Wednesday at New York Giants OTAs.
In videos posted on the SNY Giants account on X, Dart and Beckham were seen dapping each other up before Dart hit OBJ in rhythm on a slant:
Beckham returned to his Giants roots Monday when he signed with the team after taking part in a workout.
Originally the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft by the Giants, Beckham spent his first five seasons in New York and enjoyed the greatest individual success of his career by far.
Beckham was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014, and he was named a Pro Bowler in each of his first three seasons.
OBJ averaged 96 catches for 1,374 yards and nearly 12 touchdowns per season during that three-year stretch, and he seemed poised to be one of the best wideouts of his generation.
An injury limited Beckham to just four games in 2017, and although he bounced back to finish with 1,052 yards in 2018, that would be his final year with the Giants, as he was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
From 2019 to 2024, Beckham had stints with the Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.
Aside from recording 1,035 yards in his first year in Cleveland, Beckham has not had another season in which he reached 600 receiving yards since leaving New York.
Beckham did play a major role in the Rams winning the Super Bowl in 2021, though, registering 21 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff games.
Since he did not play in the NFL last season, Beckham's last game action came in 2024 when he had nine catches for 55 yards and no touchdowns in nine games with the Dolphins.
However, playing under now-Giants head coach John Harbaugh, Beckham was productive with the Ravens in 2023, finishing with 35 grabs for 565 yards and three touchdowns.
With Gunner Olszewski going down with the torn Achilles and No. 1 wideout Malik Nabers' status for the start of the regular season being uncertain as he continues to recover from a torn ACL, the Giants went on a receiver-signing binge this week.
In addition to Beckham, the Giants inked JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios, adding them to a depth chart that already includes Nabers, Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, Malachi Fields, Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins.
There is no guarantee Beckham will even make the roster, but with Dart potentially in need of weapons to start the season, the connection they build in OTAs, training camp and the preseason could be key in determining whether OBJ is a good fit for the team.
