New NFL Trade Rumors on Josh Sweat, Cardinals' Stance Amid Packers Buzz
Despite recent rumors and speculation, the Arizona Cardinals reportedly have no intention of trading pass-rusher Josh Sweat.
In a post Wednesday on X, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport wrote that Sweat is "not being traded. Not to the Packers or anywhere. Carry on."
The Sweat-to-Green-Bay rumor first emerged Monday when Easton Butler of Packer Report wrote on X that the Cardinals and Packers were "working on a trade" involving Sweat.

However, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic later reported that there was no truth to the rumor, writing, "Not a thing at this point."
Sweat has been absent from the Cardinals' voluntary OTAs, leading many to wonder about his future with the organization.
Head coach Mike LaFleur downplayed any concerns last week, though, telling reporters, "The few guys that weren't out there that you guys probably saw today, very much we knew that they weren't going to be here and a lot of it was planned ahead."
Originally a fourth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2018 NFL draft, Sweat spent his first seven seasons in Philly.
Sweat recorded 43 sacks as a member of the Eagles, and he was named a Pro Bowler for the first and only time in 2021.
He also played a massive role in the Eagles beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX at the conclusion of the 2024 season, recording 2.5 sacks of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Sweat parlayed that performance into a four-year, $76.4 million deal with the Cards, meaning he is under contract through 2028.
In his first season in Arizona, Sweat recorded a career-high 12 sacks to go along with 30 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles.
While Sweat was excellent, the Cardinals tied for the NFL's worst record at 3-14.
With no franchise quarterback in place, the Cardinals are widely expected to be in or near the basement once again in 2026.
Sweat could be a big piece of the puzzle if and when the Cards turn things around, though, and Rapoport's report suggests there is nothing to the rumors of a potential trade.
