Rome Odunze Hypes Himself As Bears' WR1 After DJ Moore Trade, 'I'm Ready For It'
After the Chicago Bears traded star wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, third-year wideout Rome Odunze is ready to ascend to the top option in the passing attack.
While speaking to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Odunze declared that he's prepared to step up as the No. 1 wide receiver in the Bears' offense.
"Oh, I'm ready for it," Odunze said. "I'm 100% confident in it."

The No. 9 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Odunze has yet to live up to expectations, as he hasn't yet achieved a 1,000-yard season. In 2025, he was limited to 12 games in the regular season due to a stress fracture in his foot, and he finished with just 44 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns. He returned for the playoffs and produced four catches for 88 yards across two postseason games.
Odunze added that his disappointing sophomore campaign taught him patience and how to bounce back from tough situations.
"Your career is going to invite those moments of adversity," he said. "That's the moment that I was in, and I embraced that. I know I'm better for it to be able to go through something like that and have the season that I did that brought me to that sort of disappointment. I feel like there's those moments can tell you who you are and where you're going to go from there."
