As part of the unveiling, EA also teased a full reveal for both Madden NFL 27 and College Football 27 on Thursday, called the Opening Drive.
The NFL released videos from Williams' photo shoot for the standard and deluxe Madden covers as well:
Williams is the first Bears player to ever be featured on the cover of the main version of Madden, although offensive lineman Roberto Garza was the cover athlete for the Spanish language version of Madden NFL 09.
The 24-year-old Williams was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft by the Bears after a standout collegiate career that saw him win a Heisman Trophy at USC.
On the heels of a promising rookie season, Williams truly broke out in 2025, leading the Bears to an 11-6 record, an NFC North title and a playoff win.
Under new head coach and offensive guru Ben Johnson, Williams completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while rushing for 388 yards and three scores.
Williams set the Bears' single-season record for passing yardage, nearly becoming the first Bears QB to ever throw for 4,000 yards in a single campaign.
While Williams had his ups and downs during Chicago's two playoff games, throwing for 618 yards, four touchdowns and five picks, his exciting brand of football captivated fans and made for some memorable moments.
With Williams perhaps establishing himself as the NFL's next great quarterback, his selection as the Madden 27 cover athlete did not come as a shock.
EA Sports announced Wednesday that Madden NFL 27 will be available worldwide on Aug. 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
