Junior Seau's Daughter Sydney Speaks on Father's Hall of Fame Induction
The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2015 was formally enshrined during a ceremony in Canton, Ohio, Saturday night, and late San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau was inducted by his family, including his daughter, Sydney.
While Sydney was not allowed to give a complete speech due to Pro Football Hall of Fame regulations regarding the ceremonies for posthumously inducted players, per Pro Football Talk, she was afforded the opportunity to make remarks Saturday evening after the Hall of Fame softened its stance.
"Our goal was to try and keep our policy but also show some compassion and understanding," Pro Football Hall of Fame president David Baker said, according to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez. "Through all the conversations, Sydney has always been great."

Shortly before the Seau family took the stage to address the crowd in Canton, the New York Times released a transcript and video of the speech Sydney had originally planned to give Saturday evening.
In the tribute, Sydney discussed the death of her father—who suffered from a degenerative brain disease, according to the New York Times:
"May 2, 2012, we all endured a loss. Thousands lost their all-time favorite linebacker, hundreds lost their favorite Charger, tens lost their buddy, and four lost their father. The reason why this honor is so hard to accept is because we had always envisioned him still being here to accept it.
"
She also discussed his steadfast commitment to family and football:
"The two words that exemplify my dad the most are "passion" and "love." Everything he achieved, accomplished or set his mind to was done with both qualities. In every situation — whether it be practice, a game, a family barbecue, an impromptu ukulele song or just a run on the Oceanside Strand — he always gave you all of himself because to him, there was never any other option.
"
Junior also became the first player of Samoan and Polynesian descent to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
On an evening when legends such as Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Will Shields and Charles Haley all entered the storied halls in Canton, Seau's daughter did a beautiful job honoring her father's achievements on and off the field in a way that spoke volumes about his contributions to her life and the lives of so many he touched.
