'HOLY CRAP,' Fans Stunned by Myles Garrett's Surprise Trade to Rams in Latest Browns Rumors

The Los Angeles Rams shocked the football world Monday by reportedly swinging a blockbuster trade for Cleveland Browns superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the move, noting that the Rams are sending pass-rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2029 third-round pick to Cleveland for the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year:

In the 30-year-old Garrett, the Rams are getting arguably the best defensive player in football over the past several seasons.

The 2017 No. 1 overall pick out of Texas A&M is a seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time First Team All-Pro over his nine NFL seasons, and he has been named NFL Defensive Player of the Year two out of the past three seasons.

Last season, Garrett set a new NFL single-season sack record with 23, surpassing the mark previously shared by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt.

Garrett's status as an elite pass-rusher is undeniable with double-digit sacks in each of the past nine seasons and 14 or more sacks in each of the past five.

The acquisition price was not cheap for the Rams, though, as they had to give up a rising star in Verse, plus multiple draft picks.

Verse was the No. 19 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and the 25-year-old has made a quick impact during his young NFL career.

Over his first two seasons in the league, Verse is a two-time Pro Bowler, and he was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.

His sack production pales in comparison to Garrett's with 4.5 in 2024 and 7.5 last season, but he is a complete EDGE who excels in all facets as evidenced by his 58 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 27 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles last season.

The move makes sense for Cleveland in terms of getting a younger, cheaper alternative to Garrett, and draft picks that it can use to accelerate its rebuild.

As for the Rams, they are in win-now mode, and the acquisition of Garrett further cements that fact coming off an NFC Championship Game appearance on the strength of the reigning NFL MVP in quarterback Matthew Stafford.
