Tanner Scott's Wife Posts Photos of Death Threats Toward Family After Dodgers' Loss to Phillies
The wife of Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott shared the threatening messages their family received in the aftermath of his blown save in a 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Maddie Scott posted screenshots of direct messages and comments from Instagram. Maddie, Tanner and their child were all targeted for abuse.
Tanner came on in the eighth inning against Philadelphia with the Dodgers holding a 3-1 lead. He allowed an RBI single to Bryce Harper before Edmundo Sosa hit a two-run homer to put the Phillies on top.
The southpaw has otherwise performed as expected in 2026, bouncing back from a tough first year in L.A. Through 26 appearances, he has a 2.19 ERA and a 2.75 FIP.
The threats toward Scott and his family are far from an isolated incident across MLB.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale and The Athletic's Tyler Kepner spoke with multiple players who have been harassed by fans, and they cited the widespread legalization of sports gambling as a contributing factor.
Last year, Houston Astros owner Jim Crane arranged for pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. to have round-the-clock security after McCullers' family received online death threats.
