New Eagles Rumors on Surprise WR Contract Signing amid A.J. Brown-Patriots Trade Rumors
The Philadelphia Eagles are signing wide receiver Samori Toure, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
This comes as the Eagles and star wideout A.J. Brown approached the long-awaited moment when his contract effectively becomes tradable. Schefter reported Philly and the New England Patriots are expected to begin serious negotiations about a swap.
The Eagles telegraphed their hand when they selected USC wide receiver Makai Lemon with the No. 20 overall pick in the draft. They're not investing that kind of capital in the passing game if they expect Brown to be there in Week 1.
The three-time Pro Bowler's eventual departure will nonetheless open a spot on the roster.
Toure faces an uphill climb to make the final cut. A seventh-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2022, he has 14 career catches for 163 yards and one touchdown in 23 appearances.
The 28-year-old has some experience working with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, who was an offensive assistant for Green Bay in 2024.
Lemon and DeVonta Smith will presumably anchor the new-look passing game. Beyond that, a lot is still up in the air. Toure is the fifth addition at receiver, with Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks and Elijah Moore also coming aboard.
