New Details on Jaxson Dart, Abdul Carter, Malik Nabers from Giants' Brian Burns' Softball Game

Amid recent controversy regarding quarterback Jaxson Dart's introduction of United States President Donald Trump at an event, the New York Giants reportedly displayed a great deal of camaraderie during Brian Burns' celebrity softball game on Saturday.

According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Dart's "immense competitiveness was on full display" throughout the softball festivities. He led all players with seven homers in the home run derby and even had the winning hit in the game, rallying his team from down seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and final inning, which led to him getting "bombarded" by teammates.

Dart was reportedly also seen "joking and having a good time throughout the day with his teammates, including outside linebacker Abdul Carter."

That tidbit is meaningful given that Carter was outspoken on social media regarding Dart's introduction of Trump.

Per Raanan, Carter took to X to post and then delete, "Thought this s--t was AI, what we doing man," in response to the video of Dart introducing Trump.

Carter later posted and deleted, "Me and JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as Men. Yall can keep yall narratives."

Raanan reported that the Giants had a team meeting regarding Dart's appearance with Trump and the subsequent reaction to it.

Also, Dart addressed the topic while speaking to the media, saying, "This was a unique opportunity being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States. My thinking was pretty simple in the fact of I've always loved this country. ... So, the president position has always been a position that I've long respected regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party, and my intentions were just that."

Carter also spoke to the media, making it clear that while he did not agree with Dart affiliating himself with Trump, he was on the same page with Dart from a football perspective and wanted to move forward.

"Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things," Carter said. "Jaxson is one of our leaders—he's the face of our franchise. He represents himself and what he does, and he represents all of us. If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I'm against that, but to show the world.

"That doesn't mean that we have to spread hate. That doesn't mean that me and Jaxson hate each other or we have beef. I sit next to Jaxson every day—we're close, we talk. As long as we make sure we have the same goal as a team, and our goals align—which they do -that's all that matter. I just want to move past this."

Also notable on Saturday was the participation of wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo in the celebrity softball game.

Both players are coming off season-ending injuries in 2025, as Nabers tore his ACL and Skattebo fractured his ankle.

According to Raanan, Nabers' participation was "unexpected" amid questions of whether he will be ready for the start of the regular season after undergoing a second surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue.

Nabers reportedly played every inning of the game and hit a home runs, but he was seen "limping around the bases."

As for Skattebo, he was ever the showman as usual, reportedly hitting a home run and doing a backflip to celebrate.

The Giants are slated to being training camp in July, followed by their preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 15 and their regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
