
Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham's Final Box Score Stats, Highlights as Fire Beat Fever
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was held to a season-low six points during a Saturday night loss upset by the host Portland Fire.
Clark shot just 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-2 from deep in the Fever's 100-84 loss to one of the WNBA's newest teams.
Clark went 4-for-5 from the foul line while adding six assists, two rebounds and a steal in the loss.
Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever in the loss with 18 points and 17 points, respectively. Boston added a team-high seven rebounds.
Sophie Cunningham paced the Fever's reserves with 15 points on 3-for-5 shooting from the field.
Cunningham also added four assists, four assists and a steal in the Fever's defeat.
Megan Gustafson racked up a game-high 22 points for the Thorns, who started out Saturday night by falling into an early six-point deficit after a hot start from Clark and Boston.
The Fire turned things around by outscoring the visiting Fever 27-7 over the rest of the first quarter.
The Fever never again got within 10 points of tying the game as Gustafson set a franchise record with 13 first-half points.
Portland at one point led by as many as 26 points on their way to closing out the home victory in front of a sold-out crowd.
Clark recorded her fifth foul of the game late in the third quarter as she struggled to find a way past the Fire defense.
Two Portland players recorded double-doubles in Emily Engstler (16 points, 10 rebounds) and Carla Leite (18 points, 12 assists).
The win marked the Fire's bounce back from conceding a 20-point blowout loss to the Atlanta Dream on Friday night.
Clark and the Fever will now ride a two-game losing streak into Thursday's Commissioner's Cup opener against the visiting Atlanta Dream.
