Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever suffered a 90-88 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday night.
Clark finished with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes of action. She shot just 3-of-12 from the field and 2-of-6 from three-point territory, but made all eight of her free-throw attempts.
The two-time All-Star picked up her 500th career assist in the second quarter of the game, becoming the fastest player to reach the milestone in WNBA history.

Cunningham played 25 minutes off the bench, scoring 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting. She also recorded two rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Valkyries opened the game on a 14-7 run as Indiana's offense struggled, ending the first quarter with just 14 points.
The Fever bounced back in the second, outscoring Golden State 30-23 in the period. Both teams were tied 44-44 at the half.
Neither squad was able to pull away in the third quarter, as Indiana held a narrow 67-65 lead heading into the fourth.
While Golden State took an 89-84 lead with 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Indiana went on a quick 4-1 run to pull to within two points.
The Fever had an opportunity to send the game to overtime, but Aliyah Boston missed a short shot with three seconds left in the contest.
The Valkyries improved to 5-2 with the win as Indiana fell to 4-3.
