'We Got Some Motherf--kers Now,' Javon Kinlaw Hypes Commanders' New-Look Defense Amid OTAs
Washington Commanders defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was excited about the additions that the team made on defense throughout the 2026 offseason.
"We got some motherf--kers now," Kinlaw told reporters Wednesday. "Excuse my language. S--t, Oweh he can go. S--t, Charles Omenihu can go. S--t, K'Lavon can go. S--t, Tim Settle he can go. S--t, Who else am I missing? And we got D-Wise back, you already know he can go."
"It's gonna be exciting," he added. "It's gonna be super exciting to play with these guys, for sure. A lot of talent. I'm just excited, though. I'm super excited."
Washington revamped its defense after the 2025 season concluded, signing edge-rushers Odafe Oweh, Charles Omenihu and K'Lavon Chaisson.
The Commanders also brought in defensive tackle Tim Settle in free agency after handing defensive end Deatrich Wise a contract extension.
They addressed their linebacking corps as well, signing Leo Chenal and selecting Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Washington ended up spending just over $258 million in free agency, the third-highest total in the league (via Over the Cap).
The Commanders are looking to bounce back from a 5-12 finish last season, as their defense struggled in 2025. They allowed 384.0 total yards per game, the worst mark among all teams.
Now, Washington is looking to return to the playoffs after making an NFC Championship Game appearance during its 2024 campaign.
